Pride organisers make second big charity donation
9:03am Wednesday 15th August 2012 in News
Pride organisers have made their second major donation of the year – weeks before the event is held in the city.
LGBT charity the Rainbow Fund has received almost £5,500 from Pride Brighton and Hove.
The donation brings the total amount of money donated by the new Pride Brighton & Hove community interest company to more than £10,500.
The new Pride team have pledged to allocate £1 from every ticket sold for the 2012 Preston Park event to the Rainbow Fund to support local LGBT / HIV frontline services and community groups within
the city.
Previous Pride events had failed to give donations to LGBT organisations since 2005 but this year’s organisers have pledged to donate a minimum of £30,000.
The Pride Brighton & Hove 2012 ‘United Colours of Pride’ Parade will take place from 11am on Saturday September 1 followed by performances from the likes of Alexandra Burke and Fatboy Slim in Preston Park.
Tickets for the Pride Brighton & Hove Preston Park event are currently on sale at www.pridebrighton.org at discounted prices starting from £8.50.
