Two men have been arrested after a man was shot in the face and had his van stolen in Rye.

John Adams, 43, is recovering in hospital after being shot at and is still to learn if he may lose the sight of one eye.

Detectives arrested two men, a 41-year-old from Ashford and a 28-year-old from Maidstone, yesterday in conjunction with Kent Police. They have been released on conditional bail until September 11.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses who may have seen Mr Adam's white Toyota Hilux, with Environment Agency livery, being towed between Rye and Charing, Kent, late on Saturday night and the early hours of Sunday morning. The van suffered damage to its bumper whilst it was being towed.

DI Hannah Willard said: "This is very fast moving investigation and all possible leads are being followed up. The two arrests yesterday reflect our determination to bring the offenders to justice."

Anyone with information is urged to contact detectives on 101 quoting Operation Avonside, or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

So lets get this right. Two men shot someone in the face and stole his vehicle and have been released on bail till september, WTF ? So they are free to go and do it again to someone else?
The law in this country is insane and makes me sick!!

There is probably a small detail of "evidence" to obtain and await lengthy forensic/dna reports. Its not all instant like CSI - especially if they go no comment.

Whyat's the chances of them turning up in September? Miles away without a care in the world most likely.
