A motorcyclist has died after a road crash in Hove this morning.

A car and a motorcycle collided in Davigdor Road at 6.30am. The road was closed between 6.30am and 10.30am.

A Sussex Police statement said: "Police were called to a fatal collision between a motorcyclist and a car in Davigdor Road, Hove, today at 6.25am.

"The motorcyclist, a 34-year-old Polish national living in Brighton, sadly died at the scene after his Kawasaki motorbike was in collision with a Nissan Serena car at the junction of Lyon Close.

"The road was closed for four hours but re-opened at 10.30am. Police are appealing for witnesses especially those who may have seen the motorcyclist just prior to the collision. Anyone with information should call Sussex Police on 101 quoting Operation Button."

Police are still tweeting this road closure at nearly 10am. Awful. I'm guessing the worst has happened and that is saddening on this lovely sunny morning that feels so peaceful.

I was first on the scene and called the Ambulance.
My thoughts are with the rider, the driver of the other vehicle plus their families.
I sincerely hope you are wrong James David but fear the worse the rider was certainly in a bad way.

The crash woke us too, happened right in front of our bedroom. It was unfortunately a fatal one. The emergency services were keeping his heart going for about half an hour before they called it. Such a sad morning. Horrible for the driver too, he was quite an old chap, must've been shaken up.

RIP
The guy was unconscious throughout so if it is any comfort for his family he did not suffer.
My heart goes out to them and the poor man who's car he hit.
I am still really shaken.

Poor form to mention a minor road closure irrelevance in the opening sentence

I saw this briefly this morning. I hope all the tossers that pulled up to moan at the emergency services for the minor division read this.

Davigdor Road is such a hazardous one at the best of times and dangerous overtaking of buses, is a common occurrence. Sightlines are not very good, especially around the zebra crossing by Montefiore Road, where it is not always easy for a motorist to see if a pedestrian has stepped onto it.The problem is not helped by the council ignoring the large amount of illegal parking on double yellow lines, either side of the road, particularly on Sundays. I have never had a reply to my request to the council to have this matter looked into.

But as soon as the council start talking parking enforcement, the bonkers "i'll drive my car i pay my taxes" brigade start up! If CCTV was installed and people were fined mercilessley with proof -say £100 - they would not double park/block the road -simple.

totally agree with you, D5. maybe certain blackspots should have CCTV on them, with instant fines dished out. also, a monthly download of the bus cctv would catch some!

Maybe it has more to do with yet another old driver behind the wheel than the motorbike.

I no old chap involved and maybe best to wait for facts to come out before judging there were witnesses to accident who were actually there maybe for them and police to decide as there is little more to it and old chap concerned is devastated by what happened as unfortunately your friend died but just not good to jump to conclusions the facts which is only way can have proper will be out shortly when investigation over all our thoughts are obviously out for family of motor cyclist

Jacek Sawa R.I.P The biking community has lost another brother to terrible circumstances and we at cityclean have lost a wonderful colleague and friend. Rest well, our hearts and thoughts to your family and those who were lucky enough to have you as a close friend.

The church is a kind of HQ and place to worship for the coptic christian community which is primarily made up of Brighton's Sudanese community. Some years back, all the cars which were illegally and dangerously parked outside were issued with tickets, then they were all recinded, I was told, following complaints from the church. It stands to reason the council would ignore your request because they wouldn't want to be seen to be descriminating against one particular section of the community, despite the fact the law is being broken.
