Cyclist, 71, badly hurt after Worthing crash

A pensioner was seriously injured when he was knocked off his bicycle by a car.

Police are appealing to anyone who saw a collision between a bicycle and a car at 10.55pm on Friday on the High Street, near Waitrose, in Worthing.

The rider of the bicycle, a 71-year-old man from Worthing, was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital with serious injuries where he is in a stable condition.

An 18-year-old Sompting woman driving a blue Volkswagen Polo car was uninjured.

Anyone with information should call Sussex Police on 101, quoting Op Steward.

"a collision between a bicycle and a car" - did the bike run into the car? I very much doubt it… Get well soon - and back on your bike - old fella!
