Thieves steal 1.5 tonne digger worth £20,000

Thieves have stolen a 1.5 tonne digger from a roadwork site in broad daylight.

The £20,000 vehicle was taken from Danum Close, Hailsham, between 2pm and 4pm on August 25.

It is believed that the thieves were driving a large white Renault van with a  trailer in tow.

They took the orange digger and then returned two hours later to steal the compressor.

PC Robin Neal, said: "We are appealing for any witnesses to the theft or anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area with plant equipment."

Anyone with information should contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 355 of 27/8 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
