  • Pride Brighton and Hove begins with a parade from Madeira Drive along Grand Junction Road and King's Road, up West Street, down North Street and along Old Steine and London Road to Preston Park.
  • The parade is running late but Madeira Drive, Grand Junction Road and Kings Road have reopened to traffic.
  • Buses are delayed as the parade passes through the city centre.
  • In Preston Park revellers can enjoy fairground rides, music and cabaret throughout the afternoon.
  • The position of the Queers Against Cuts group at the back of the march has sparked controversy and accusations that police officers are kettling peaceful marchers. Sussex Police deny this saying they are not responsible for the group's position in the parade and always follow the march.

Campaign group Queers Against Cuts has launched a Twitter campaign after claiming police officers kettled members during the Pride Brighton and Hove Parade.

Reporter Ben James said organiser Beth Granter was in tears as the group marched through the city centre at the back of the Pride parade.

Sussex Police say the group was not kettled as officers always follow the end of the parade.

However, when Ben attempted to speak to members of the group about their Twitter protests during the parade officers surrounded marchers prevented him from talking to them.

The Argus is investigating.

what happened after 7.15pm?? Did you all fall asleep lol or did the alcohol fumes take you over. Would love to know how many people actually paid to go in the park this year because I didn't speak to one person who had at the after party?

Fat chance! As a gay man I feel emabarrased about so called Gay "Pride" All I saw yesterday coming through Brighton was hundreds of people staggering around drunk and openly dealing drugs on the streets. Where were the police in all this? Probably enjoying the March. The PC's are now themsleves to PC. Time to end this Pride farce!

Christmas and Easter provide such opportunities and if you wish to take part in some marches and related festivities I can pass you some details of local groups.

But there are no argus reporters in Brighton, they're all working out of a call centre in Mumbai.

But I can't can I - if I try to promote and celebrate being white for example I am seen as racist. Cities/stores/compan
ies ban Christmas decorations, hot cross buns etc. as they might offend non-Christians.

When Police Officers, (off duty or not?) wearing uniform and march openly displaying their sexuality, something is very wrong.

This is a complete smack in the face to the Police Code of impartiality. They might as well urinate all over the uniform.
