King Kong has been spotted monkeying around on a Brighton roof.

Eagle-eyed shoppers noticed a large plastic gorilla perched on top of the Mesmerist pub in Prince Albert Street over the weekend.

Owner Neil Davies said pub regulars had been going ape for the Gorilla in the M(esmer)ist.

He said: “We didn’t really know what to do with him when he arrived – so he decided to climb up on to the roof on his own.

“The gorilla is up so high that most people don’t even see him. He doesn’t make much noise either, to be honest.

“But when people do spot him it’s hopefully a nice surprise.”

The Mesmerist, which aims to “celebrate Brighton at its bohemian best”, is well known for its quirky objects and burlesque shows.

Mr Davies said: “He’s actually been napping up there for a while now, but I’m sure he’ll wake up again soon.”

Not much anymore.

Don't see the problem with the story myself - bit of light humour and a nice plug for his pub.

Everyone's a winner...
