Eddie Izzard will be giving his first entirely French performance in Sussex today (September 7).
The comedian will perform a pop-up gig to a select audience on the roof of the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill.
Speaking to The Argus about his performance, Eddie, who sponsored Richard Wilson’s art installation bus on the roof top, said he was compelled to bring the town where he went to school into the future.
He said: “I want to help to bring Bexhill back to being a place at the forefront of experiences.
“Bexhill was built as a young town. Not a place where living stops.
“Bexhill suffers from that like Brighton doesn’t.
“Back in 1912 it was a futuristic place. I want to bring that back.”
The comedian, who spent three months performing in France hopes that by performing to an audience of just 200 on the De La Warr’s rooftop – entirely in French – he will help Bexhill become a place where boundaries are pushed again.
He added: “I’m ambitious and I want Bexhill to be ambitious.”
Eddie Sur le Toit – Tout en Francais is at 6.15pm. Tickets available from 01424 229111.
