Travellers told to remove vans from Hove seafront

Travellers have been ordered to take their vans away from a seafront.

About five vans have parked in bays on the seafront near Hove Lawns earlier last week.

After complaints from neighbours, Brighton and Hove City Council has asked them to move.

A spokesman for the local authority said: “We have served Section 77 Notices on these vehicles requiring the owners to move.”

The order, under the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act, gives the group notice to leave the area by a specific date.

If they fail, they could be arrested with a possible punishment of three months in prison or a £1,000 fine.
