A 45-year-old man has been arrested for the manslaughter of a man who died five months ago from a drugs overdose.

James Reid, 43, was found in a room at the Glenwood Lodge in Grand Parade shortly before midnight on April 30.

A 45-year-old man from Brighton was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter on Wednesday.

He has been questioned and bailed until October 17.

A post-mortem examination in Mr Reid's death showed the cause of death as a combination of heroin, methadone and alcohol.

An inquest was opened and adjourned to November 29.

Police and ambulance services were called to the scene at 11.49pm on the Monday evening when Mr Reid's body was discovered by a member of staff checking on his welfare.

He had last been seen earlier that day.
