A man has been charged with five counts of historic sexual offences against a teenage boy.

Michael Mytton - known locally as Mark - is alleged tyo have abused boys in the Newick area between 1990 and 1994.

Following an investigation by DC Lee Scott, of Sussex Police's child protection team,  Mr Mytton was charged with two counts of indecently assaulting a boy under 14 and three counts of indecently assaulting a boy under 16 (one victim).

The 68-year-old was charged on Thursday with the offences and and is due to appear before Haywards Heath Magistrates' Court on September 20.

Mr Mytton,  of South Road, East Chiltington, was originally arrested in July.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "Sussex Police takes all reports of sexual offences extremely seriously, no matter how historic they are.

"If anyone would like to speak to an officer then we would ask them to contact police on 101."
