A burst water main has left a Shoreham road closed.

Water is leaking from the main at a building site near Southlands Hospital in Shoreham.

Police were called by West Sussex Fire and Rescue at 12.40pm to help with traffic control in Upper Shoreham Road.

The street, between Park Avenue and the parade of shops opposite the hospital, has been closed and drivers are advised to use alternative routes.

A Southern Water spokesman said: “We apologise to customers in Shoreham for disruption to their water supplies this afternoon.

“This is due to a water main in Upper Shoreham Road having been damaged by a third party.

“People may be experiencing either low water pressure, or loss of supply but we can reassure customers that we are doing our utmost to restore supplies as soon as possible and apologise for any inconvenience.”

If there is genuine concern about your immersion heater your plumbing layout must be wrong. Loss of water from the public main will not affect the immersion heater in a properly designed system.

This should not have been allowed to happen, it should have been stopped after the first Party.
