Old fashioned fairground games, a dog show and a performance from a cheerleading group were just some of the entertainment enjoyed at a vintage event held on Saturday.

The Vintage Carnival, staged by Blind Veterans UK, took place in Ovingdean last weekend on the Saturday of the Heritage Open Days.

It was formally opened at 11.30am by newly appointed chief executive of Brighton and Hove Albion FC, Paul Barber, followed by a performance from the football team’s cheerleaders, Gully Girls!

Visitors also enjoyed a variety of dance, music and sports events organised by the charity’s own sports team.

The Blind Veterans UK Awareness marquee gave a flavour of what facilities, nursing treatment, and training it provides to our vision impaired ex-servicemen and women to help them regain their independence or improve their quality of life.
