Fans of Freud prepare to get excited, because a University of Brighton student has designed and built her very own “womb chair”.

Freyja Sewell came up with the idea as a way of escaping the hubbub of modern life.

Creating a near complete igloo shape, the chair allows the user to snuggle up inside with just a small entrance hole.

The chair is called HUSH and is made from 100% wool felt and its cushions are stuffed with recycled wool fibres.

HUSH was recently selected for Grand Designs Live as one of Kevin McCloud’s ‘Green Heroes’.

Freyja said: “With more people having to share homes it is increasingly important to find ways of escaping into places of solitude.

“We need to develop new ways of allowing people to comfortably co-exist in our increasingly densely-populated environments.”

So why not just climb under a duvet with your headphones on? What a load of hippy clap trap.

A fantastic student and one of many brilliant projects coming out of the University of Brighton's Faculty of Arts. Recent grads also on top 100 business start ups and in residence at the Design Museum. No surprise the Brighton atmos is catapulting creative people into the eyes of the creative world. Design guru Kevin McCloud is also behind the new eco architecture project at the uni with green design a major success all round.
