Craig Mackall-Smith tries out his new C-Gull goal celebration
Albion fans will be hoping more than ever to see Seagulls flying every matchday after their star striker picked a winging celebration.
Craig Mackail-Smith promised to flap his hands like a Seagull if he scores a netbuster against Sheffield Wednesday at the home game tonight.
And the Scotland striker said he wanted to see thousands of Albion fans doing “the C-Gull” along with him and flapping their hands in triumph.
The 28-year-old appealed for fans to come up with suggestions after he was stumped for a celebration after scoring a stunner against Burnley earlier this month.
Fans flocked to The Argus and Juice FM to show off their moves for CMS to copy.
Suggestions included “the haircut”, “theMacbot” and even “waving the mackerel”.
The man himself pored over the options in The Argus at Juice FM studios yesterday before deciding on the C-Gull.
Mackail-Smith said: “It’s all gone a bit nuts really but it’s fantastic that so many people have got involved. I got so much stick for my celebration after the Burnley goal so I knew I needed to do something about it.
“The C-Gull one stuck out because it was simple and hopefully it will get the crowd going too.”
Competition winner Michael Kennard, an electrician from Brighton, said he was “over the moon” that CMS had picked his celebration.
He said: “I just thought of great scorers like Alan Shearer and whatthey have done in the past. I thought I’d keep it simple and you can’t get much more Albion than a seagull.
“It would be amazing to see all the fans joining in if Macca scores.”
The 26-year-old won a pair of signed football boots from Mackail-Smith, although the striker said he shouldn’t have signed the left one “because I only use that for standing”.

He's going to look a bit of a plank if he doesn't score. What will he do then, actually take off?
