Albion star Craig Mackail-Smith made good on his promise to use the goal celebration chosen by Argus readers and Juice FM listeners when he found the net against Sheffield Wednesday.

Mackail-Smith's goal in front of a full house set the side on course for its 3-0 victory on Friday night.

The 28-year-old had appealed for fans' help after admitting he did not know how to celebrate scoring a stunner against Burnley earlier this month.

When choosing from a range of fans' suggestions this week, Mackail-Smith said: "I got so much stick for my celebration after the Burnley goal so I knew I needed to do something about it.

“The C-Goal one stuck out because it was simple and hopefully it will get the crowd going too.”

Competition winner Michael Kennard, an electrician from Brighton, said he was “over the moon” that CMS had picked his celebration.

He said: “I just thought of great scorers like Alan Shearer and what they have done in the past. I thought I’d keep it simple and you can’t get much more Albion than a seagull."
