Sussex Police search for missing Littlehampton pensioner
7:57am Tuesday 18th September 2012 in News
A widespread hunt has been started for a pensioner missing from her home.
Sylvia Long left her home in Roundstone Drive in East Preston, near Littlehampton, at 11.30am yesterday,
The 75-year-old, who suffers from dementia, was last seen by a neighbour at 2.30pm when she told him she was going to the shops.
Sussex Police said she has not been seen since.
Detective Constable Russ King, of Sussex Police, said: “Given the rain that's fallen overnight we are obviously extremely concerned that Sylvia was not dressed for the wet and cold when she left home.
“She was last seen wearing a skirt, white cardigan and green blouse. She is white, 5' 4", of slight build, with mousy, greying collar-length hair.
“Her disappearance is completely out of character.”
DC King said a number of police units and the force helicopter had been searching for her both inland and along the seafront overnight.
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or 999 in an emergency.
