Police warning over conman posing as a Chichester policeman

A conman is impersonating police officers over the phone in an attempt to get residents’ to talk about their home security.

Officers from Littlehampton neighbourhood police team are warning residents not to give out personal details over the phone to a man claiming to be a PC Pete Harrison or Pete Webster from Chichester police.
 

Residents living in Fontwell, Woodgate and Walbertonhave reported the calls from a withheld number asking a series of security questions about their homes and outbuildings.
 

PC Steve Self from Littlehampton neighbourhood police team said: "Police officers do not make calls to members of the public of this nature and you can always ring 101 and check if a local officer has been trying to get in touch with you."

There are a lot of people in uniform impersonating police officers...but they have warrant cards.
