Police disturb burglars at New Worthing swimming pool site

Two men managed to get into the site of a multimillion-pound swimming pool complex.

Police were called to the new Splashpoint swimming pool in Brighton Road, Worthing at just before 2.45am yesterday morning to reports of intruders at the building site.

When police arrived at the site the two suspects tried to flee on bikes.

One was caught and the other one cycled away towards Worthing Pier and along Chapel Road.

A 30-year-old man from Worthing had been arrested for burglary but was released with no further action.

Police are still investigating whether anything was stolen and how the suspects got onto the site.
