Sunday league football is all about hangovers, dubious offside decisions and waterlogged pitches – but this is taking things too far.

The groundsman at the Fairfield Recreation Ground, in Hurstpierpoint, may want to head down to the opticians judging from his latest handy work.

As well as wonky goal lines, the pitch has a double semi-circle and touch lines extending off towards the nearby bushes.

Peter Chapman, of the Burgess Hill Uncovered website, discovered the wayward lines.

He said: “I’m not sure what he was up to but it does look funny.”

It is almost as comical as the lines down Braypool. They managed turn dog turd white!
