Last chance to buy piece of Brighton West Pier

History lovers are to be given one last chance to get their hands on a little bit of seafront history.

The West Pier Trust is offering original cast iron pieces of the West Pier that are damaged or surplus to requirements as the site is cleared in preparation for the i360 .

All proceeds from sales will go towards the trust's plans to restore the original 1866 octagonal pier kiosk on the seafront and develop a historic seafront schools' education programme at the Fishing Museum.

The next sale will be on Sunday September 30 between 10am and 12.30pm in the pier compound.

For more information call 01273 321499 or email rachel@westpier.co.uk .

The kind of people I usually see flogging scrap metal don't advertise it in the local paper. Is this different then?

The i360 should be useful...from that high up it might be easier to spot where the council tax went.

To ease congestion from the extra 800,000 people expected I was thinking of running a car scrappage scheme - might even ask the owners.

Are they building the i360 as an eventual place for the Starlings to roost when the West Pier disappears
