Man dies after being hit by Brighton-bound train

A man has died after being struck by a train yesterday evening.

British Transport Police (BTP) were called following reports of a body just north of Wivelsfield Train Station in Burgess Hill.

They attended the scene with Sussex Police at 8.40pm and found the body at the Bedelands foot crossing.

A BTP spokeswoman confirmed that he had been struck by the 19.32 London Victoria to Brighton.

She added: “This incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious. Anyone with information should contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
