Mountain biker flashing in Crawley forest

A mountain bike rider is believed to be indecently exposing himself to women as he rides through Tilgate Forest.

Police have received two reports from women who have seen a man flashing in the Crawley park.

The most recent happened at 12.40pm on 11 September when a woman reported seeing a man exposing himself in the woods next to Tilgate Forest Business Park.

Another women reported a similar offence in the forest on March 28 this year, and on 5 September she contacted police again to say she also saw him cycling towards the golf course there.

The man is described as white, aged in his 40's, well spoken, and clean shaven with short black hair. On each occasion he was riding a cycle, possibly a yellow mountain bike. He wears a cycle helmet and black cycling shorts.

PC Michael Phillips said; "It is clear that this man is local to the area and we are hoping that local residents may recognise the description or have other information. Anyone who can help is asked to give us a call on 101 quoting serial 0840 of 11/9."

I wonder if he'll get anything caught up in the chain?

So it is alright to have a mass nude cycle rally through Brighton, but not OK to cycle nude through a country area?

Seriously though, this sort of thing is disturbing to some and is not really acceptable behaviour (at least with the nude cycle rally you have the option of watching or staying away).

Lets hope that he is either caught (and Crystal Ball's comments about cycle chains made me double over in referred agony!) or dissuaded.

As for a description of a flasher, the mind boggles. I for one will not be volunteering to stand in line at the ID parade!

Hope he's got his pump. At this time of year he might have some inflation issues. Might not just be his tyres going very soft

Honestly, CYCLISTS! If it is not riding on pavements it is breaking the law another way.
