European Arrest Warrant issued in Jeremy Forrest case European Arrest Warrant issued in Jeremy Forrest case

A European Arrest Warrant has been issued for Jeremy Forrest, The Argus can reveal.

Further details about this are to be made public this afternoon when Mr Forrest’s father speaks at a press conference.

The warrant means that Mr Forrest can be arrested by police in countries across Europe.

Previously French officials have said they would not look to arrest him as they did not believe a crime had been committed.

The European Commission said: “An European arrest warrant may be issued by a national judicial authority if the person whose return is sought is accused of an offence for which the maximum period of the penalty is at least one year in prison “He or she has been sentenced to a prison term of at least four months.

“A decision by the judicial authority of an EU country to require the arrest and return of a person should therefore be executed as quickly and as easily as possible in the other EU countries.”
