Jewellers raided by two men in East Grinstead
Thieves raided a jewellers in East Grinstead this morning.
The two men made off with a quantity of jewellery after smashing the window of Majors Jewellers in London Road with sledgehammers.
They then escaped in a dark car.
A Sussex Police spokesperson said: "Fortunately no-one was injured during this incident, but nonetheless it was an extremely frightening experience for the staff who were in the store at the time.
"Extensive enquiries are being undertaken to try and find those responsible, together with the car in which they left the scene.
"The only description we have of the offenders is they were wearing dark clothing and had their faces covered. However, we are hoping that someone saw what happened or has information about the incident that might be crucial in our enquiries.
"Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting serial 0301 of today's date, or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
