A man who went missing in Essex could be in Sussex, according to police.

Several personal possessions belonging to Stephen Jones were recovered from the beach off Western Esplanade in Southend at lunchtime on Friday, August 30.

The 52-year-old man led a nomadic life, visitinng various hostels around the south-east of England, and was last known to be living in south London.

But a series of ATM transactions have linked him to Sussex.

Enquiries have revealed his cash card has been used at post office ATMs in Brighton on three separate days earlier this month.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "At this stage, we're not sure whether Stephen entered the sea or whether he has left Essex to continue with his life. We're asking anyone who may have seen him to contact us so that we can provide his family with some substantial update."

Anyone with information on Stephen Jones's whereabouts should contact Essex Police on 101.

Any media enquiries should be directed to Essex Police Press Office on 01245 452450.

Even with those amazing glasses Sussex Police will never find him. Unless he has a Car Number Plate on his back.
