Photography students got the chance to snap some of the world’s top models at the glamorous London Fashion Week.

A group from City College Brighton and Hove were taking part in a competition run by Canon at Somerset House in the capital.

The task, which aimed to give the students a taste of the industry, saw them having to jostle in the pit to get the best image before rushing off and submitting their entry.

The winner will be announced next month.

James Smith, 18, from Storrington, said: “I’d done portraiture before in the studios but not in such a fast-paced environment.

“Once you’re in the pit you can’t move and if you don’t get that shot, you don’t get a second chance.

“The main thing I learnt from the day was to look for confidence in the models.”
