Human skull on sale at Lewes market

Human skull on sale at Lewes market Human skull on sale at Lewes market

Make no bones about it – this is one bizarre item for sale.

While most people like to decorate their mantelpiece with photo frames and vases, other people have more unusual tastes.

A human skull, once used in medicine, is now for sale in Sussex.

The skull, which is being sold by an unnamed French stall owner, is being sold at the Lewes Flea Market for £300.

Alan Wilkins, who runs the market, said it was not that unusual to have human bones for sale.

Mr Wilkins, of East Hoathly, said while he would not put a skull in a house some people would.

What's the big deal, I am sitting here, with my wife's head resting on my lap as I type this and I am wondering....maybe I should have buried it in Ashdown Forest with the rest of her.

It wasn't for sale, and it wasn't in Sussex, but I once had the opportunity to visit the main London Transport (as it then was) lost property office, and they had an (empty, I'm glad to say) coffin in storage.

Quite apart from all the other obvious issues here, that meant that someone had actually tried to transport it on a tube train. Now THAT is bizarre...
