Man suffers head injury in Eastbourne attack

A man suffered a head injury after being attacked in the street.

Shortly before 8am on Saturday police received a report that a man had received head injuries following an assault in the Brodrick Road area of Eastbourne.

It is thought that at around 2.30am the 20-year-old local man was assaulted by three or four men who are known to him.

The victim was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital, and later transferred to Hurstwood Park Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Inspector Damen Funnell said: “We believe the victim was assaulted following an argument with several men he knows. The assault happened in the street so local residents may have seen or heard the incident.

"Officers have been carrying out house to house enquiries in the area and we are keen to hear from anyone who has information about the assault and hasn't yet spoken to police."

Call Sussex Police on 101.
