Last, last chance to buy a piece of Brighton's West Pier

A final sale of fragments of a historic monument was so successful that organisers are hosting a final, final sale.

The West Pier Trust sale of original cast iron pieces of the West Pier that were cleared in preparation for the i360 was held on Sunday but its success has encouraged organisers to hold one more. The sale will be held between 9.30am and noon on Sunday in the pier compound.

For information email rachel@westpier.co.uk or phone 01273 321499.

So how will they "rebuild the West Pier" if they've sold off all the bits? Oh yeah, I forgot, this was never about "rebuilding the West Pier" it was about stealing £14 million from the council tax payers, by using fraudulent figures, for a project that will never make any money. When will you investigate this white elephant, Argus? Here's a political and financial scandal involving fraud at a high level and on a massive scale, perpetrated right under your noses, and you haven't even questioned it? Sickening. And you call yourself a "newspaper"?

Hmmmmm. If you bought a piece from the last final sale could you demand your money back for false advertising finding out that there will now be another final sale.

Clearly there was an underwhelming response to their last "final" sale on Sunday. Maybe people simply aren't interested in spending silly amounts of money on ugly, shapeless lumps of rust.

When the final match was played on the Goldstone ground my son brought home a piece of the turf and planted it in the garden. Then he went off to university; but on each call home he enquired about this turf.
I told him that I had sold this piece of "genuine Goldstone turf" on many occasions.

the trustees have done a magnificant job in overseeing the destruction of the west pier now they are happily disposing of the evidence, anyone who believes they ever had any intrest in restoring the pier can now be sure that it was just a ploy to destroy it. a total bunch of nero's

oh I nearly forgot there is still a good few thousand tons of pier left, sadly the price of scrap is just £96 a tonne, lower than the cost of cutting it up so i guess it will just collapse in the fullness of time

I was the very last member of the public to walk on the West Pier before it closed.
I enjoyed a Cola AND a Fanta from the little cafe just inside the entrance, (in wonderful sunshine) and made sure I was the last person on the pier just before they closed the gate. I was around 12 years old. And a bit sad.

I was also pictured on the front page of the Argus dressed as a Victorian boy together with my mother, Joy Jones dressed as an old Victorian lady, Judy Cornwall and Sir John Mills.

As one who has always tried to support the cause, may I ask the Argus to clear up the big question as to whether there are any plans remaining to restore the Pier?

Please don't laugh - many historic piers on the continent have been beautifully rebuilt in Victorian style.

The proceeds from the new i360 were intended for the rebuild of the pier. Now public money is being spent, but everyone seems to be keeping quiet .The West Pier Trust now avoids mentioning the subject, and only speaks of restoring "one of the rotunda kiosks" and placing this on the promenade.

I know that "this is Britain", but is it really necessary to give up so easily?? Please clear up the situation dear ARGUS:
