A man is to undergo surgery after he was attacked outside a pub in Worthing.

The victim, who is in his 20s, was outside the Bar Next Door pub in Rowlands Road, when he was knocked unconscious at about 2.15am on Friday.

He suffered a fractured cheekbone and broken nose and Sussex Police say he will have to have a “serious operation” to fix his injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting serial 1413 of 29/9.

If Worthing is not very careful it will find itself being referred to as the West Sussex Eastbourne, a stigma that will be very hard to shift.

does the argus wish to make it clear that this vicious assault had nothing to do with the public house refered to in the report but simply occured in the street out side long after the pub had closed.
