Crawley baker Cathryn Dresser has been booted of the Great British Bake Off after failing to chill her domes.

The mum-of-two, from Pease Pottage, failed to make the grade during the quarter finals after a disaster with chocolate teacakes.

She failed to put the cakes into the fridge, which led to a crisis when trying to take them out of the moulds.

She also came a cropper after forgetting to take her crackers out of the oven, resulting in what she called a "car-crash".

Last night, as the programme aired on BBC 2, she tweeted: "I had the best time and the four best incredible bakers made it!"

She added: "I must tell you @Hollywoodbaker [intimidating judge Paul Hollywood] was so lovely and really supportive ignore my evil glances!"

The final four bakers now left in the contest are John Waite, James Morton, Daniele Bryden and Brendan Lynch.

The previous week, another Crawley baker, vicar's wife Sarah-Jane Willis, was voted off in a double eviction.

Nothing to be disappointed in, 5th out of that lot was really good going and I think we all loved the fact you can barely suppress the dark side behind the angelic looks haha!

I thought she was brilliant!

Great entertainment too.

Oh, on a technical note, tempered chocolate should never be put in the fridge as it blooms. The ideal way to create the shine is to have the chocolate at a slightly higher temperature than the bowl/case etc.

This is best achieved by pre chilling the case then adding the choccy and letting it harden outside of a fridge.

Other than that, she was marvellous and very nice to look at too :)
