Sir Stirling Moss to take part in veteran car run

A legendary British racing driver will take a back seat for a veteran car run.

Sir Stirling and Lady Moss will take part in the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run as passengers with a classic car enthusiast from Forest Row.

The 83-year-old motorsport hero will be travelling at a sedate speed in a 1903 Panhard Levassor during the run on Sunday, November 4.

Chris Jaques acquired the historic car in 1973 from the son of the original owner, the Compte de Blanchard of Rambures, near Abbeville in France.

The Royal Automobile Club- hosted annual car run is the world’s oldest motoring event and this year will see 500 pre- 1905 vehicles making their way from Hyde Park in London to Madeira Drive, Brighton.

Sir Stirling said: "Everybody leads such a hectic life these days that it's nice to relax the pace every so often.

“My wife and I are very much looking forward to a gentle trip down to Brighton at no more than 20mph.”
