Police want to speak to these two men after a teenager was attacked over the Pride weekend.

The 16-year-old victim was walking along the Lower Promenade alone near Brighton Pier when the assault took place at 11.30pm.

He received a three-inch gash to the head which required several stitches at the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital, Brighton.

There is believed to be one suspect who was with a larger group of men, described as a mixed race man, aged in his late teens to early 20s, 5' 7' of small build, with black hair.

Also of interest to police is the red haired man next to him.

Police believe other people nearby in the picture, although not involved with the assault, may have important information, and are urging them to come forward.

Detective Constable Aran Boyt said: "This was a nasty attack on a lone teenager who was celebrating the Pride Festival. The reasons why he was targeted are still not clear."

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or recognises any of the people in the picture, is asked to call Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 2124 of 2/9. Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
