Shakedown Festival creates a mud-bath in Stanmer Park
4:00pm Wednesday 10th October 2012 in News By Ben James
This was the scene at Stanmer Park, Brighton, yesterday following the weekend’s Shakedown Festival.
More than 19,500 people flocked to the event to see the likes of Katy B and Dizzee Rascal performing.
However, concerns have been raised about the speed of the clear-up with rain over the past two days turning parts of the site into a mud-bath.
Festival bosses have said that they will be off site later today once groundworks have been carried out.
A spokesman for the festival said: “Unfortunately the weather wasn’t good during the set up of the festival and was not ideal at points during the day.
"We will be off site as of tomorrow and a road sweep is being conducted first thing Thursday morning. We’d ask for patience with the reinstatement of grass due to the time of year and the inclement weather.”

At the Pride fesitval this year, everyone was searched and bags searched.
I understand a number of weapons were seized.
This story happens to be about the grass which is a story in itself.

I had no noticification about this event! Whilst I don't begrudge anyone a good day/night out it would have been nice to get a letter through the door explaining that local residents may have their lives disrupted over the weekend. I would have changes my day off.
Instead I had to listen to the music blasting from about 10am till midnight!!
Thanks for the heads up!

So, this is what I was hearing all day on my only day off last week!!

Build on this waste of space, more afoardable houses are needed in Brighton & Hove, If you want green open spaces use the South Downs.
