Man fends off Eastbourne robbers

A man fended off muggers who tried to snatch his bag in Eastbourne.

The victim was set upon in Belmore Road at about 4pm on Monday.

The men fled after a member of the public disturbed them.

Both men were aged in their late teens or early 20s.

One was black, about 5ft 8in, with short hair and wearing an Adidas jumper and tracksuit bottoms.

The other was mixed race, between 5ft 9in and 6ft 2in skinny and balding with shaven hair. He wore a blue jumper, possibly with a white logo, and dark jeans. They were last seen running away towards Sydney Street.

Anyone who saw what happened is asked to call Sussex Police on 101, quoting serial 1174 of October 8.
