Battle of Hastings re-enactment cancelled

A re-enactment of the Battle of Hastings set for this weekend (October 13 and 14) has been cancelled because of torrential rain.

English Heritage made the decision to call off the event which would have celebrated the 946th anniversary.

The battle is re-enacted annually over two days to mark William the Conqueror’s historic 1066 victory.

Organisers said that they had no option but to cancel after unexpected torrential rain yesterday.

Other events planned to mark the anniversary including the 60th National Town Criers' Championship and torchlit procession and bonfire, went ahead.

If this is a re- enactment, I did not know the original Battle of Hastings was postponed due to bad weather.

Can someone find out if William the Conquer had the same weather-fearing feelings on the day?
