Two Sussex men in court over aggravated burglary charges

Two men suspected of threatening a couple in their home will appear in court today.

Sussex Police were called to a house in Brooks Lane, Bosham, on Friday following reports that a man and a woman were being threatened by two men who had forced their way in and demanded money.

Shortly after 7pm police arrested two unemployed men nearby on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

Russell Carruthers, 35, of Upper Bognor Road, Bognor Regis, has been charged with aggravated burglary, common assault and causing £5,000 worth of criminal damage.

Kevin Tarrant, 48, of Bracklesham Lane, Bracklesham Bay, Chichester, has been charged with burglary.

Both men are due to appear at Worthing Magistrates' Court today.
