Queen Victoria has been re-crowned 111 years after her death – with a traffic cone.

The Old Steine statue had passers-by doing a double take on Friday after a mischievous bunch scaled the great monarch the previous night to adorn her with the illuminated piece of road furniture.

And although Queen Vic did not look best amused, the prank did bring a smile to the faces of some shoppers.

This isn't the first time she's had such a headpiece. She was wearing the same thing in the late 90s for a few weeks before the council dispatched a man with a stepladder to remove it.
