Man has neck slashed during Brighton brawl
2:27pm Monday 15th October 2012 in News By Ben James
A man had his neck slashed with a broken bottle during a brawl in the early hours of last Friday (October 12).
Police are appealing for information after they broke up the scuffle between several people at around 3.30am in the Old Steine.
A 19-year-old Brighton man was found with a neck injury consistent with having been cut by a broken bottle.
He was treated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital but was discharged soon afterwards.
A 19-year old man from Brighton was arrested on suspicion of affray and a 21-year-old man from North London arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
Both were later released on police bail until December 9.
Detective Constable Steve Amner said: "There were many people in the area at the time and we would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened.”
Call police on 101 quoting serial 0117 of 12/10 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

As for young people running around cities and shouting, I don't think this is a new problem. It's probably been like that since the dawn of time. Certainly its not a new phenomenon that's come about since you moved to your address in the city centre. If you don't like it, move. That's what I'm doing, I've had enough of the drunken louts on Jimmy Street. But its like the tide... you're never going to stop them, so just accept it or move somewhere quieter.

there are fights in every town and city on a friday and saturday night, some ending with serious injury to someone. 99% of these fights are drink related, which begs the question whether licenced premises should be open after 11pm. years ago, when pubs shut at 11, we never heard of these incidents, it is only more recently that people can go out drinking later, and getting out of control of their senses, that these incidents occur. having said that, each person has to take responsibility for their own actions, and know when to stop drinking, and act in an appropriate way
