Arrest after attempted off-licence robbery

A man was arrested by patrolling police officers moments after a failed robbery attempt at an off-licence.
 

The man walked into Grande Wines in Nyewood Lane, Bognor, at around 8.45pm yesterday and threatened the assistant with a knife.
 

He tried to force her to open the till but she and another member of staff resisted and the man fled empty handed.
 

The staff were not hurt and immediately raised the alarm.
 

Within minutes police officers spotted a man on the Esplanade nearby and arrested him on suspicion of attempted robbery.
 

The 24-year old, who lives locally, is currently in custody for interview and further enquiries.

Well done to Sussex Police, I say, but doubtless there's someone who thinks differently, given that this is the Argus website
