Crash on Hove seafront

Police are cutting a man out of his car after a crash on a major road in Hove.

The collision happened at around 1pm this afternoon between two cars on Kingsway at the junction with Langdale Gardens.

Ambulance crews are in attendance and fire crews are removing one man from his car.

A police spokesman said the man's injuries were likely to be minor.

Actually I would say that road was potentially dangerous. Many motorists joining it from the side roads cross the eastbound carriage, but if immediately unable to safely access the westbound, sit in the middle with both the front and back of their vehicles intruding into both of the outer lanes.
I have seen several near misses over the years.
The above comment is ill informed and of no value.
I hope this unfortunate person makes a full recovery whatever the reason for the accident.

No road is dangerous. It's thepeople driving or riding their vehicles and bikes on them! Yes, Kingsway is a long, straight road, with many side-turnings and cars and other viewing obstructions parked along, but all you have to do is take care. When I lived on the road in the 80s and 90s, it was known as death alley - but most of the acciodents I saw were driver error, includinga young lad killed when he warpped his sports car aropund a lamp post right outside my flat one Friday evening. I can still hear him wailing in agony.

I don't know if this crash involved a car turning right out of Langdale Gardens, but the simplest option is to turn left and do a safe u-turn later.

A safe u turn...........as the simplest option!! Are you serious??
That would be the roundabout at the Palace Pier then.......can't see many drivers seeking that option.

You could turn left into Sackville Road and use the side roads to turn round.

No, I can't see many drivers doing that either

I saw the aftermath, looked like a car had braked for the speed camera and caused the accident as it was right by it. Kingsway is long and straight with 4 lanes only 30mph and should be easy to navigate. with the large amount of daily traffic going along this road there will inevitably be accidents, until car technology improves. I think the council should consider more roundabouts as opposed to its obsession with traffic lights, to naturally calm traffic and not congest it. .

It was my car which was the other car involved in this accident! What this artical fails to mention is that my car was parked on the sea front road (and had been all day) stationaty, when the driver of the other car had a medical situation and lost control and crashed into my parked car. So it wasn't anyone pulling onto the road or speeding, just an unfortunate accident and we wish the driver a full and quick recovery!!!

Yep, wish the driver well, a genuine accident, which is a rarity but to all the doubters...possible.

They could either do a u-turn by the garage near the King Alfred, which they would have to do if turning into the garage itself, or do a left into Princes Crescent, left into Princes Avenue, right into Hove Street and right into Kingsway, which I have done before when the traffic has been busy.

U-turns on a road with traffic islands are safer than doing u-turns on a road without them. Again, it just depends on how sensible the driver is.

I'm glad the POLICE can cut people from their cars...

Oh...hang on... That's the fire and rescue service that do that....The police just "apportion blame".

I was there in the immediate aftermath of the accident, and can say that it was a genuine accident that happened because the driver appeared to blackout momentarily. Nothing to do with the speed camera.
Thank goodness his injuries did not appear too serious, and a miracle considering the state of the car.
In a car 10 years older it would probably have been fatal, cars are so much safer these days.
I hope that he makes a full and speedy recovery.
