Brighton burglary suspects caught ordering post-raid takeaway

Three suspects were arrested waiting for a takeaway at a drive-thru moments after a businessman was thrown from a van after confronting burglars.

The man was thrown from a van after hanging on to the bonnet along Lewes Road at 8pm last night.

He was responding to reports that a burglary was taken place at storage units he owned in Barcombe Road.

Police officers then pursued a van into Newhaven where three men were arrested while they waited at the McDonalds drive-thru in The Drove.

A large amount of commercial gym equipment thought to be worth thousands of pounds was recovered from the back of the van.

Two Brighton men aged 31 and 20 and a 34-year-old man from Seaford remain in custody for questioning.

Detective Sergeant Helen Paine from Brighton and Hove CID said: "If you have any information then please call 101 quoting serial 1653 of 17/10 or you can leave a message anonymously with the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

Excellent result . . . . 5 years for the burglary . . . . 20 years for attempted murder . . . . . .
Reality? Probably 50 hours community service . . . . .

Maybe the gym equipment was to help overcome the effect of too much fast food.
