Police are hunting a 32-year-old man in connection with a serious assault inside a woman’s flat.

Devon Newell, who is also known as "D", is from the Peckham area of South London but has connections to Eastbourne.

Officers want to interview him in relation to a case of GBH in which a woman is thought to have been kicked and punched in the head.

The attack happened in the victim’s flat in Viking Way, on the Kingsmere Estate in Eastbourne, on Saturday morning (October 13).

Newell is described as black, 6', of slim build, with cropped hair and a goatee beard.

He was last seen wearing a dark purple Berghaus rain jacket, light blue denim trousers with a red start on one of the buttocks and light blue Nike Air Max trainers.

Detective Sergeant Lloyd Lewis, of the East Sussex Adult Protection Team, said: "This was a nasty attack which resulted in the 20-year old victim sustaining serious facial and body injuries consistent with having been punched and kicked.

“She was treated at Eastbourne District General Hospital and released the following day.

"It is important that Newell is found as soon as possible and I would urge anyone who has information as to his whereabouts to contact police on 101 quoting serial 0499 of 13/10 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

"We are also keen to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of Viking Way at around 10am on Saturday 13 October, and who may have seen Newell.

“We believe that he may have left the area in a dark coloured car, possibly an Audi A4".
The Metropolitan Police are also helping in the search for him.

He looks positively charming doesn't he. Glad I do not live in Eastbourne!
