Travellers pitch up in Hove Sainsbury's car park
10:32am Friday 19th October 2012 in News
Travellers have pitched up in a Sainsbury’s car park.
The group turned up at the superstore in Old Shoreham Road, Hove, yesterday lunchtime (October 18).
Store staff called police but as the landlord of the car park the management is likely to have to seek a county court order if it wants to force the travellers to move on.
A police spokesman said: “We will deal with any breaches of the peace or specific offences while the owners of the property decide upon what legal action to take.”
A spokesman for Sainsbury's said: “We are aware of this and are taking legal advice.”
Brighton and Hove City Council has been assessing traveller camps at Devil’s Dyke Road and the Racehill allotments in Wilson Avenue and obtaining the right to evict travellers from Wild Park.
It is unclear if the group has moved from one of those sites.
