Driver injured in A27 crash

The A27 has reopened after a crash at the Southwick Tunnel this morning.

A driver was injured in the crash at the tunnel's exit on the eastbound carriageway  at 6.45am, but their condition was not thought to be life-threatening.

No other vehicles were involved.

The road was closed while the car was cleared but had been reopened by 8.30am.

6.45am, no other vehicle involved. Yes, it could have been mechanical failure or the car striking debris. Doubt it. I bet it was bad driving. Inexperience.

It was from the start, it was closed for 16 months after the official opening as it was not wide enough for two lorries to pass and so the road surface was lowered which is why it is closed so often to remove the water.
Closure dates are as follows:

January - Friday 13 and Saturday 14
February - Friday 17 and Saturday 18
March - Friday 16 and Saturday 17
April - Friday 13 and Saturday 14
May - Friday 18 and Saturday 19
June - Friday 15 and Saturday 16
July - Friday 13 and Saturday 14
September - Friday 21 and Saturday 22
October - Friday 12 and Saturday 13
November - Friday 16 and Saturday 17
December - Friday 14 and Saturday 15
If you want to see what a great job the contractors did, come off at the Hangleton Interchange and experience the subsidence in the roundabouts.....

Heard there are Secret Tunnels under the Downs, accessed by the Southwick Tunnel and at a location in Fulking, might explain the frequent closures, it can't all be for maintenance.

You sure about that, the water gets pumped up onto the allotments, contaimined water get captured at the bottom,

contaimined water?

Yes it is the water that causes all of the closures above.
