This machine had a very long cycle to still be going at 4 am, unless they'd had a very late night?!

Dishwashers use a lot of electricity. It makes economic sense to use the timer to set them to come on during the early hours at night rate.

I could not agree more, we use our Washing Machine, Tumble Dryer and Dishwasher on the Economy Night Rate Settings. The savings cover my little essentials......

If it was a German dishwasher, manufactured between 1999-2005, it should have been recalled, as the control panels tend to catch fire. Search 'repairaction' online to check your machine.

My Mum's next door neighbour in Haywards Heath suffered exactly the same issue within the last week or so; kitchen completely ruined and the family have had to move out whilst repairs throughout the house are being made.

Like others, we often set ours on overnight - guess the value of working smoke/fire alarms cannot be overstated albeit in this story it was the noise of the fire that awoke them.

Bosch say n the UK there are 632,000 Dishwashers (of the 2.2m they sold in this period) that are affected by an issue. Bosch have performed an extensive communication campaign and in the 5 months since the recall was launched they have managed to track down and repair 137,612 of them. This works out at an average of 27,000 per month.

Bosch say they are continuing with this recall and expect their communication programmes and the number of dishwashers they repair to increase.

The Issue

Bosch has identified that a fault with the control panel on some Bosch dishwashers can lead to overheating and create a potential fire hazard.

The affected dishwashers:-

Were manufactured between 1999 and 2005
Have batch numbers in the range of FD 7901 through to FD 8504
Are included in a list of 237 model numbers
