Two arrests after attempted murder in Crawley

UPDATED: A Crawley man is fighting for his life after being attacked in his home in the early hours of this morning. 

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the 30-uear-old man was attacked and beaten at his home in Gossops Parade, Gossops Green.

The victim is currently in a critical condition at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.

Police responded to calls from neighbours regarding noise in a flat at 3am. When they arrived at the flat above the parade of shops they gave first aid to the victim and arrested two men nearby.

Detective Inspector Tracy Edwards said: "This was a vicious assault. I would appeal to anyone who saw or heard anything at that time to contact us.

"It is believed that two men, who we believe are known to the victim, had entered the flat and a vicious assault took place.

"A forensic search is being made of the property and weapons are being sought.

"We are conducting house to house enquiries in the area and are appealing for anyone who may have information to call police on 101 quoting Operation Anise or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
