A war veteran has finally been recognised for his bravery during the Arctic Convoys.
Reg Scarlett, 90, spent 14 years in the Royal Marines between 1938 and 1952 and was among those who helped take crucial supplies to the Soviet Union during the Second World War.
Mr Scarlett, who lives at Millard House care home in Braintree, was among the first recipients of the newly-created Arctic Star, which was presented to 40 veterans by Prime Minister David Cameron during a ceremony at Downing Street.
