A coffee roastery with a string of popular cafes has shown its ‘bean to cup’ pedigree with a powerful short film.
Small Batch Coffee head roasterand co-founder Alan Tomlins embarked on a journey of discovery to Mexican plantation Finca Muxbal where most of its award-winning blend originates.
The film Origin, produced by Brighton production company FatSand, also tells the parallel success story of Small Batch, which has gone from a coffee cart to five coffee shops since starting in 2007.
In the film Alan explains: “There’s so many hands that touch the coffee and so many times it could go wrong that when you present this perfect cup to someone it’s a minor miracle.”
Co-founder Brad Jacobsen added: “I’m happy for it to grow. But we’re not prepared to compromise on quality.
“We deliver a really great product which we take all the way from the farmto the cup. We want to make sure every time that we add value and are making a difference to people’s days.”
